"The future is not something we enter.        The future is something we create."

- Leonard I. Sweet

I am Ricky, a passionate and dedicated bachelor of science eager to embark on exciting new opportunities. As a young and enthusiastic professional, I bring fresh perspectives and a hunger for innovation to potential companies. With a fresh but strong background in collaborative research projects, I am ready to contribute my skills and knowledge to push boundaries and make a positive impact. Let's collaborate on building the future together.

Work experience

I studied biology and medical laboratory research at Avans University of Applied Sciences Breda, specializing in medical research. To further enhance my skills, I completed a minor in Biomedical Innovations. As part of my academic journey, I had the opportunity to do both my internship and graduation internship at the University Medical Centre of Groningen (UMCG).

During my internships at UMCG, I gained valuable hands-on experience in the field of research. I had the chance to work closely with experienced professionals, contributing to various research projects. This not only allowed me to apply the theoretical knowledge I gained during my studies but also sharpened my problem-solving and analytical skills. The collaborative environment at umcg provided a platform for me to learn and grow as a researcher, making me well-equipped to take on challenging projects in the future. In the end I was able to receive a 9 for the execution of my graduation project.

Strengths

Reliable

I highly value following up on my promises and am emotionally stable. I like to be a rock for others to build on.

Driven

I love applying myself to innovate and develop, few things are as rewarding as creating new, better solutions to current problems.

Friendly

I love connecting with others through work, the better my connections the more joy I will get out of a project. I also believe that collaboration is one of the keys to succes.

Hobbies

In my spare time,

I like to stay healthy and keep learning, which is why I always gather information either through reading or podcasts. It is important for me to have a balanced lifestyle, and one way I achieve this is through indulging in various hobbies. Sports play a significant role in my routine, with activities like running, badminton, and long walks helping me stay fit and active. Not only does this contribute to my physical well-being, but it also helps me clear my mind and rejuvenate. Additionally, I have a passion for movies, immersing myself in different genres and exploring the art of filmmaking. Lastly, I love the challenge of playing chess and I am also working on improving my Japanese language skills, both of which stimulate my mind and keep me intellectually engaged.

As a researcher, these hobbies reflect my dedication to continuous learning and personal growth. By incorporating these activities into my daily life, I maintain a healthy work-life balance and ensure that I am always expanding my knowledge and skills. These hobbies not only serve as outlets for relaxation but also enhance my cognitive abilities, creativity, and problem-solving skills. By being well-rounded and nurturing my interests outside of work, I believe I bring a unique perspective to my research projects and contribute to a more innovative and dynamic approach.

Community service

In the past, I have volunteered at the Antioniushove hospital and a blood collection point for thrombosis patients in The Hague where I helped in preventive testing for Covid during the pandemic. I also volunteered at the elderly nursing home Gaspard de Coligny where I assisted the residents with breakfast and fulfilled an assisting role in the various activities organized by the activity committee.
